Honor His Legacy

Poetry was not just something he wrote—it was the way he made sense of the world. Words were where he placed his questions, his beauty, his grief, and his hope.

To honor his life and the spirit of creativity that shaped it, we are establishing a multi-year scholarship in his name “James Russell Lofgren Poetry Fellowship” at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. The scholarship will support a two-week fellowship for a poet—someone who, like him, is searching for truth and meaning through language.

Our family is currently raising funds to make this fellowship possible.
